Jackson’s Steakhouse is proud to once again partner with local wine merchant, Elodie Cardon of La Maison d’Elodie, to present a wine and food tasting, “Vive la France,” on Tuesday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m.

July 14 is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet, also known as Bastille Day. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence.

With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, Elodie Cardon (a native of Lyon, France), has hand selected four stellar French wines to complement a selection of classic French dishes as prepared by Chef Irv Miller. The featured presentation for the evening is as follows:

Premier: Homemade smoked rainbow trout dip with French tarragon and chips de pommes paired with Monmousseau Crémant de Loire Brut, Loire Valley, France NV

Deuxième: Rich gulf coast oyster stew with baked artichoke leaf, leek and Benton’s bacon dressing paired with Domaine de Mourchon Cotes du Rhone Villages Rose, Rhone, France

Troisième: Chicken ballontine — purple spring onions, sorrel and Gruyère with potato-parsnip mash and pan reduction sauce paired with Chateau Moulin de la Bridane, Saint-Julien, France

Quatrième: Roasted boneless saddle of lamb with pesto rub, summer vegetable mélange of baby butter beans, carrots, and pearl onions paired with Domaine Bertrand-Berge Fitou Les Megalithes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Cinquième: Pear and almond frangipane tart

The event cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity and will include four wines and five courses. Seating is limited; reservations required. Be sure to make yours by calling Jackson’s Steakhouse, (850) 469-9898.
