A wine and food event presented by La Maison d’Elodie and Jackson’s Steakhouse
Jackson’s Steakhouse is proud to partner with local wine merchant, Elodie Cardon of La Maison d’Elodie, to present a wine and food tasting, “Vive la France,” Thursday, July 14, 5:30 p.m., at Jackson’s Steakhouse.
July 14 is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet, also known as Bastille Day. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence.
With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, Elodie Cardon (a native of Lyon, France), has hand selected four stellar French wines to complement a selection of classic French dishes as prepared by Chef Irv Miller. The featured presentation for the evening is as follows:
Tuna tartare served atop Melba toast with oven roasted Roma tomato, double-cut slab bacon, micro greens and basil aioli as well as caviar Provencal with roasted eggplant puree, rustic French bread, marinated Nicoise olives, garlic confit, roasted sweet pepper, and fresh basil paired with Saint André de Figuière Atmosphere Rose, Provence, France NV
Chilled cavaillon (cantaloupe) soup with blackberries, strawberries and fresh lime basil paired with Triennes Viognier, Provence, France 2008
Sliced duck breast with roasted-honey glazed Anjou pear, pomegranate-infused red wine vinegar gastrique and candied walnut dust paired with Domaine de la Barroche, Chateauneuf du Pape, France 2007
Bifteck Diablo, a petite sirloin with shallots garlic, tomato, hot mustard, Worcestershire and demi-glace pan sauce, with grilled asparagus and Roquefort-leek-potato gratin paired with Chateau Preuillac Medoc, Bordeaux, France 2005
Baked Brie and pecans en croute with raspberry caramel drizzle
The event cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity and will include four wines and five courses. Seating is limited; reservations required. Be sure to make yours by calling Jackson’s Steakhouse (850) 469-9898.
