A.B.C. Beverage Tastings August – December 2023

Design

Atlas Oyster House is proud to present the next installment of Atlas Beverage Classes (A.B.C.). This semester we will be focusing on local breweries, wineries and distilleries, discovering what is going on in the beverage world right here in our backyard. In addition to the beverage tastings, we will feature small plates paired with each beverage, as prepared by Chef Jason Hughes.

A.B.C. will be held outside, on the Deck, the first Thursday of the month (August through December) and will feature a local presenter discussing the highlighted beverages. Classes will consist of four tastings of beverages with four small plates to complement each tasting. Classes will cover the basics as well as specific information regarding the history of the brewery/winery/distillery and their beers, wines, or spirits.

There are two classes every month, each an hour and a half long. The first class begins promptly at 5:00 p.m. with the second class beginning at 7:00 p.m. Class cost is $30 per person (plus tax and gratuity), per class, which gets each participant one tasting of each of the featured beverages. In addition, throughout the class, participants should be prepared for “pop quizzes,” where we will be giving away T-shirts, beer glassware, gift certificates and more. Seating is limited, reservations are required; be sure to make yours by emailing taylor@goodgrits.com or calling 850-287-0200. The featured themes for each class are as follows:

September 7th: Fords Gin & Gin Mare

Join us for a gin-focused class featuring Fords Gin and Gin Mare!

About Fords Gin: Working in the world of spirits for over 20 years, founder Simon Ford realized that the ultimate cocktail gin did not exist. He set out to change this with the leaders of the craft cocktail movement – a small band of bartenders, distillers and professional drinkers. After various versions of a recipe, it was on attempt #83 that they cracked the code for Fords Gin. Today, the same blend of nine botanicals is heralded as The Cocktail Gin.

About Gin Mare: Mediterranean gin distilled in a thirteenth century chapel in an ancient fishing village where every bottle is unique as every year the star product, arbequina olive, changes acidity. Gin Mare is made with a variety of botanicals including rosemary, thyme, basil with lots of zest.

November 2: Cutwater Spirits Canned Cocktails

When founder and master distiller Yuseff Cherney began making spirits, it was just a hobby in the back of his brewery. He custom-built his first pot still from an old beer fermenter to distill rum, vodka, gin, whiskey and more. Driven by his experimental nature and strong commitment to quality, Yuseff and his team have grown Cutwater Spirits from a passion project into an award-winning craft spirits brand. He swiftly pioneered a category with the introduction of Cutwater’s canned classic cocktails. Now, we can all enjoy a great cocktail in the places we want to be whether it’s fishing at sea, hiking abroad, or a backyard barbecue. You can still find Yuseff at our production facility in San Diego where he is focused on perfecting recipes for Cutwater’s ever-expanding range of exceptional spirits and canned cocktail offerings. Let the adventure continue.
