Angelena’s is announcing a number of updates for the restaurant. Angelena’s is part of Great Southern Restaurants, sister restaurant to The Fish House, Atlas Oyster House, The Deck, Jackson’s Steakhouse, Five Sisters’ Blues Café and The Palafox House. Owner, Collier Merrill, states “We have been fortunate to have so many talented employees and look forward to welcoming familiar faces to the roles of Executive Chef and General Manager.”
Chef James Briscione and Wine Director Brooke Parkhurst will be leaving their positions at Angelena’s to pursue other ventures. According to Jean Pierre N’Dione, co-owner, “When we started talking about an Italian restaurant, I knew that there was a guy from Pensacola teaching cooking in New York City and his wife was familiar with wines – come to find out, it was Jamie and Brooke. We thought that they would be great to help us with the menu, they both agreed to help us get started. As they move on, we wish them well for the future.”
We are pleased to announce Chef de Cuisine, Ian Gillette, will take the helm as Executive Chef of Angelena’s. Chef Gillette has worked side by side with Briscione for the past three years helping to craft Angelena’s ever-evolving menu. With a degree in culinary arts, years of restaurant and catering experience, Chef Gillette is proud to carry on the tradition of Angelena’s.
Also leaving Angelena’s is Courtney Bernhardt, general manager. “We enjoyed having Courtney with us for two years – she has done an incredible job – however duty calls, her husband Tom who has been in flight training with the Marine Corps has received his orders, they will be moving on to a new base. We wish them all of the best. I thank Courtney for her service to the restaurant and Tom for his service to our country” states Merrill.
lWith this change, Angelena’s will welcome Steve Eskridge, at General Manager. Eskridge has been a part of the Great Southern family for over two decades, serving as the General Manager of The Fish House, Atlas Oyster House and The Deck as well as Jackson’s Steakhouse.
