A Celebration of Volpaia, The Grandfather of Chianti

Design

Once again, Angelena’s is pleased to offer a special food and wine event celebrating Volpaia, the Grandfather of Chianti. The dinner will be held in the main dining room on Thursday, February 17 at 6:00 p.m.

Since 1172, in the small village in Tuscany in central Italy, Volpaia has been producing exceptional Chianti, rated as one of the three best wines in the world by Wine Spectator magazine. A number of factors play into this; altitude, terrain, microclimate, ideal terroir and years of history. The vineyards of Volpaia are amongst the highest in the Chianti region and continue to carry the title of the oldest Italian wine appellation.

Angelena’s is pleased to welcome back Alessandro Boga, Wilson Daniels Fine Wines Italian Brand Manager and Specialist for the evening. He, along with Brooke Parkhurst, Angelena’s Wine Director, will present Volpaia’s iconic wines; Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Gran Riserva and their prized dessert wine, Vin Santo. Chef James Briscone has paired the prized Sangiovese-based wines with rustic, cool-weather dishes.
