The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862

Jackson’s will be open and serving Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, May 8, from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The brunch menu is fixed price, $32 per person, and will feature a choice of appetizer and entrée with bottomless Piper Sonoma Champagne for $10 – it’s complimentary for all Moms.
