Dios Mio

by

“My God! My goodness!” The English translation for this fiery cocktail could not be more appropriate; it is truly “not for the timid”! Crafted with George Clooney’s signature blanco tequila, Casamigos, Dios Mio is bursting with flavor and can be enjoyed by both seasoned tequila veterans and newcomers alike. The story behind the origin of Casamigos, the “world’s most popular & fastest growing tequila” (Luxury Travel Magazine) is classic; it is a nod to every friendship that has experienced an evening of overindulging and late-night conversations about opening up a bar or crafting a personal blend of your favorite spirit. I know; I’ve been there! And that is just what George Clooney and his two best friends accomplished. “Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila around. So we did.” The small-batch, ultra-premium tequila is made from the finest, hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agaves and rests for two months, resulting in a blanco that is crisp and clean with hints of citrus and vanilla, and a long, smooth finish. Paired with St. Germain, muddled sage, fresh-squeezed citrus juice, and house-made hot-pepper simple syrup, it is easy to see why this cocktail has been given its name. One sip will have every drinker exclaiming, “My God! My goodness!”

Ingredients:

1 ½ ounces Casamigos Blanco tequila
¾ ounce St Germain
½ ounce orange juice
¾ ounce lemon/lime
¾ ounce pepper-infused simple syrup*
2 sage leaves

Instructions:

Muddle sage with all ingredients in an old fashioned glass. Add ice and gently stir.

*Remove seeds from a local hot pepper of choice and cut into slivers. Add simple syrup (equal portions of sugar and boiling water) while simple syrup is still hot. Let rest for 24 hours. Test for taste and remove pepper slices when taste is achieved.
