When it comes to premium tequila, there is no brand more prominent than Patron. As a company who is at the forefront of sustainable tequila production, they are committed to the process in which their products are made. In recent years, Patron has opened up about their green initiatives (which are substantial, to say the least) and fully explained the significance of their tequila production. The Patron Green Initiative is really exciting for Jackson’s, as we are committed to supporting local, organic farms and growers like Jeff’s Corner Garden and the latest Gulf Coast Agriculture producers, and do our best to incorporate as many of these companies into our daily recipes as we can. Ergo, it was exciting to have a chance to play around with one of Patron’s newest products, Roca Patron, and craft a completely unique cocktail for our Fall/Winter drink menu. Thus, Ginger’s Tea-quila Party was created. The term “Roca” is a literal Spanish translation of “rock”; it refers to the transitional Tahona process of using a volcanic wheel to crush cooked agave while keeping the fibers active during fermentation. The result is a truly unique and complex spirit full of personality and a substantially higher ABV; a niche the tequila market was really missing. Its robust flavor of caramel, vanilla, melon and roasted agave give this tequila a powerful flavor palate that allowed me to play with several different pairing options; eventually settling on an Earl Gray Tea simple syrup infusion, iced tea, and ginger beer combination that resulted in a perfectly balanced mosaic of flavors. Stop by Jackson’s Steakhouse to indulge in Ginger’s Tea-quila Party, or craft yours at home!
