A wine and food event presented by La Maison d’Elodie and Jackson’s Steakhouse
Tuesday, July 15, 2014
Jackson’s Steakhouse is proud to once again partner with local wine merchant, Elodie Cardon of La Maison d’Elodie, to present a wine and food tasting, “Vive la France.”
July 14 is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet, also known as Bastille Day. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence. As the holiday falls on a Monday this year, we are presenting the event Tuesday, July 15, 5:30 p.m., at Jackson’s Steakhouse.
With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, Elodie Cardon (a native of Lyon, France), has hand selected four stellar French wines to complement a selection of French dishes as prepared by Chef Irv Miller. The featured presentation for the evening is as follows:
Premier: Gulf coast crab dip, Belgian endive and heirloom tomato paired with Monmousseau“Crémant de Loire,” Rosé, Loire Valley, France, NV
Deuxième: Creamy cauliflower and caramelized-leek soup paired with Monmousseau Vouvray “Moelleux,” Chenin Blanc, Loire Valley, France 2002
Troisième: Pork crépinette, brioche rusk, Roquefort and maque choux paired with Domaine de Mourchon, Côtes du Rhône, France, 2010
Quatrième: Roasted and sliced entrecôte (prime rib eye) with Bordeaux sauce, garden vegetables and popover paired with Chateau Grand Bouchon “Révélations,” Médoc, France, 2012
Cinquième: Tarte tatin with Chilton county peaches and crème chantilly
The event cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity and will include four wines and five courses. Seating is limited; reservations required. Be sure to make yours by calling Jackson’s Steakhouse, (850) 469-9898.
