Honey-Barbecue Sauce

  • ¼ cup Canola oil
  • 1 Yellow onion, diced
  • ½ cup Minced garlic
  • 1 pound Light brown sugar
  • 1½ cups Apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup Hot sauce of choice
  • 4 cups Ketchup
  • 1 ½ cups Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon Black pepper


Heat medium-size saucepot over medium heat. Add canola oil, onion, and garlic. Sauté for approximately 5 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients and stir together. Bring mixture to a simmer. Let mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, till it thickens. (Cooked to desired consistency.)

Remove from heat and baste your meat or cool to store in refrigerator to use on ribs or other meat of your choice.
