Great Southern Restaurants Welcomes Pensacon!

 

The Fish House, Atlas Oyster House and The Deck Bar are pleased to once again join forces with Pensacon, Pensacola’s Comic Convention, to present five nights of themed décor, music, photo opportunities, original move prop displays and fun at one giant complex.

 

The entire complex will be decked out in three different Pensacon themes Wednesday, February 20, through Sunday, February 24, 2019. The Fish House will be transformed into Harry Potter’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Atlas will feature the world of Star Trek and The Deck Bar will be transformed into the Cantina from Star Wars! This year we will feature a new addition to the complex – The Merril Museum Museum where we will have a full display of original props and memorbilia from a number of films and shows including Star Trek, Alien, X-Files, Planet of the Apes, and so much more!

 

We are proud to be a signature restaurant for Pensacon with hundreds of celebrities joining us for dinner each year. Davis ­­– Smoking Man from the X-Files, Butch Patrick – Eddie Munster from The Munsters and many more. You never know which celebrity guests might stop in to Our House!

 

Wednesday, February 20 – Come enjoy Ladies’ Night out on the Star Wars Cantina Bar with $2 drinks for the ladies with DJ Lao playing all night long.

 

Thursday, February 21 – Official Pensacon Kickoff Party with DJ Matt Powell

6:00 p.m. ­– Merrill Movie Museum Opens, Registration Open for Cosplay Costume Contest at the Cantina Deck Bar

8:30 p.m. – Cosplay Costume Contest

We will have our house DJ playing your favorites — also offering special Pensacon specialty cocktails. In addition, we will presenting the installion of the Merrill Movie Museum original prop exhibition along with a Cosplay Costume Contest with many valuable giveaways. Cosplay Contest registration beginning at 6:00 p.m Cosplay Costume Contest begins at 8:30 p.m.. The contest will be judged by cosplayer and costume designer LaVonne French and Pensacon cosplayers.

 

Friday, February 22 – Sunday, February 24

The fun continues throughout the weekend with all of the restaurants in the complex decked out in Pensacon themes with dozens of fun photo opportunties. Merrill Movie Museum will open Friday at 6:00 p.m. Friday night and then open 11:00 a.m. until on Saturday and Sunday. Each night DJ Matt Powell starts at 7:00 p.m. with special drink features in each venue, photo opportunities, and more.

 

 

 

Fish House – Harry Potter’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

The Fish House will be transformed into Hogwarts with potions, Quidditch, wands, and Diagon Alley with our entire team joining in the fun! Want a selfie with a life-size Dementor? How about a photo with your own “Have You Seen This Wizard?” poster? Are you curious about which Hogwarts house you would be placed in – the Sorting Hat will be at the Fish House. Drink specials at the Fish House include The Goblet of Fire, Veritaserum, Butterbeer and more. 11:00 a.m. – Until (each day and night)

 

Atlas Oyster House – Star Trek Scenes

Atlas will be transformed into scenes from Star Trek with a galaxy that will take you beyond the final frontier! Want your picture taken with authentic props from the motion picture? How about a photo from the Captain’s chair? Atlas will showcase a life-size original Borg movie prop as well as original translights from the deck of the Starship Enterprise as well an original movie prop of the ship. Drink specials at Atlas include The James Tea Kirk, Mind Meld and the Warp Core Breach. 11:00 a.m. – Until (each day and night)

 

Deck Bar – Star Wars Cantina

The Deck Bar will be transformed into the Star Wars Cantina Scene fit for pilots and various dangerous aliens. Want your picture taken Han in Carbonite? How about hanging out with a couple of Jawas? Have your photo taken our the galaxy wall for the ultimate Star Wars photo op.

Pilot House, above Atlas ­–Merrill Movie Museum

Selections from the Merrill Movie Museum’s stellar collection of movie props, memorabilia and behind-the-will be on display, all of which celebrate the art of movie and television production in all of its forms.

The Merrill Brothers collect and preserve props, costumes, prosthetics and makeup pieces, concept art, storyboards, production documents, movie posters, marketing materials, animation art, business documents and more from throughout the history of cinema and pop culture.  Thursday, Friday 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

 

Four blocks away from the Pensacola Bay Center, The Fish House, Atlas Oyster House and The Deck Bar are the places to be in Downtown Pensacola to celebrate Pensacon. Pensacon provides trolley service to and from the complex. For more information, please visit greatsouthernrestaurants.com.
