Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano Hosts Black Bear Bread Co.’s Chef Phil McDonald for Chef Collaboration Dinner

March 5th dinner commemorates the restaurants’ shared Golden Spoon
‘Best New Restaurant’ Award’
 

Angelenas Ristorante Italiano is pleased to announce a special chef collaboration dinner with Angelena’s Executive Chef James Briscione and Grayton Beach-based Black Bear Bread Co’s Executive Chef Phil McDonald on Saturday, March 5th at 6:00pm. Both Angelena’s and Black Bear Bread Co. have been recently recognized by Florida Trend magazine as two of the Golden Spoon ‘Best New Restaurant’ Award.

 

The collaboration dinner will feature a 5-course menu created by Briscione and McDonald that brings the Italian and American influences of their respective restaurants together for a specially-created one-night-only dining experience for 40 guests.

 

Menu is as follows:

Gulf Snapper Crudo
Jacobsen Sea Salt, Calabrian Chili Paste, XVOO, Lemon, Smoked Pecans, Mint

Doppio Ravioli
Chianti-braised short rib and Parmesan fillings, truffle cream

Charred Baby Carrots
Honey-Sherry, Bay Yogurt, Chicory, Cilantro, Satsuma, Crispy Farro, Aleppo

Chicken Parm
Housemade chicken patty, pomodoro, mozzarella, Parmesan

Florida Strawberries and Gelato

 

In addition, a featured wine will be included, as selected by Brooke Parkhurst, Wine Director.

We are thrilled to welcome Phil into the kitchen at Angelena’s and celebrate our recent awards.”

 

The Golden Spoon Best New Restaurant Award is a great honor that Florida Trend bestows on a Florida restaurant. These awards are coveted by the states best chefs and foodie favorites. Both Angelenas and Black Bear Bread Co. are more than honored to be featured as the only two Golden Spoon ‘Best New Restaurant’ Awards in Northwest Florida.

 

In July 2019, Angelenas opened their doors, in downtown Pensacola, in the heart of the entertainment district, just steps from the historic Saenger Theatre. Boasting a vibrant bar scene and elegant dining room, Angelenas has become a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. A blending of creative, classic dishes from Italy with Gulf seafood, Southern produce and locally sourced meats. A state-of-the-art oven – turning out pizzas, baked pasta and more – is the heart of the restaurant. A full Italian wine list complements the menu, highlighting special wines from the many different regions of Italy.

With its 2017 debut in The Shops of Grayton, Black Bear Bread Co. has quickly become the go-to stop for artisan breads, pastries, Stumptown coffee, and seasonal breakfast and lunch offerings along with a thoughtfully curated selection of craft beers and natural wines. In spring of 2019, the café expanded next door with Bar Room, the restaurants natural wine bar showcasing farm-raised oysters, wine-driven snacks & sharables, cheese & charcuterie, and craft beer. In June 2020, Black Bear Bread Co. opened their doors of its second cafe Black Bear Grand Boulevard at Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard.
