Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Great Southern Restaurants

 

Join us on Thursday, December 31, for New Year’s Eve at Great Southern Restaurants! All of our restaurants will be open, each restaurant will offer their standard menus, as well as special features created by Chef de Cuisine John Huggins, Executive Chef Irv Miller, Executive Chef Billy Ballou and Executive Chef James Briscione. As we continue to maintain our strict standards of service, please note seating will be limited. Reservations are required at each restaurant.

Hours and special features for each restaurant are as follows:

The Fish House

The Fish House will be offering two special seatings for the evening, in the main dining room, for our annual New Year’s Eve wine and food event. The seatings will be held at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., reservations are required. The evening will feature the culinary creations of Sous Chef Chad Gorey with a fixed-price, four-course menu along with hand-selected wine pairings. The cost per person is $100 (excludes tax and gratuity) with complimentary favors included. As always, we will offer walk-in service all evening throughout the complex, serving from our standard menus.

The featured menu for the New Year’s Eve Wine Dinner is as follows:

Amuse Bouche

Grilled Gulf shrimp, lemon chutney, almonds, capers, parsley, Korean barbeque paired with Piper Sonoma, Brut Sonoma County

 Appetizer – Choice of

Seared sea scallops, roasted butternut squash, mixed greens, craisins, feta cheese, pickled red onion, molasses vinaigrette, and candied pecans paired with Pierre Sparr, Alsace Pinot Gris

Seafood gumbo with Gulf Coast fried crab claws, blackened shrimp, grouper, creole rice, and okra paired with Marques’ de Caceres, G Carinena Garnacha

Entrée – Choice of

Pan-seared grouper, fennel seed rub, lobster sauce, sautéed baby kale, tomatoes, shitake mushroom, and Tokyo bunching onion paired with Tablas Creek Vineyard, Vermentino Paso Robles

Renfroe pecan crusted snapper, sweet potato spoon bread, blueberry butter, crushed pecans, wilted mustard greens, bacon jam, and lemon butter paired with Hess Collection, Chardonnay Panthera Russian River Valley 2017

Kansas City strip and grilled shrimp, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, red wine braised shallot, red wine demi glaze, and blue cheese paired with Raymond Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley

Dessert – Choice of

Rocky Road roulade cake, and orange sunshine pavlova paired with JCB by Jean-Charles Boisset, Cremant de Bourgogne Brut N. 21

Apple Danish bread pudding, hot toddy sauce, and ginger elderberry ice cream paired with Cossart Gordon, Rainwater Medium Dry Madeira

Jackson’s Steakhouse

Jackson’s will be offering two special seatings for the evening in the President’s Room. The seatings will be held at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and will feature the culinary creations of Chef Irv Miller with a fixed-price, three-course menu and bottomless Piper Sonoma champagne. The cost per person is $125 with complimentary favors and valet services included. Tax and gratuity are not included. The menu is as follows:

To Start ­– Choice of

Lobster and Chanterelle Gratin with Maine lobster, roasted Chanterelle mushrooms, dry sherry cream sauce, and fresh chives

2021 Salad with cress and arugula, avocado, pickled red beets, Montrachet goat cheese, blackberry-balsamic vinaigrette and spiced pecans

Entrées – Choice of

Filet mignon with oxtail marmalade, blistered cherry tomatoes, stewed yellow squash with fresh thyme, and Dauphinoise potatoes

Seared Maine Sea Scallops, Bill-E’s smoked bacon squares slow-cooked in its own fat and fried crispy, roasted butternut squash mash, Christmas salsa, and wild berry honey gastrique

Parmesan-Crusted Red Snapper with Pugliese bread crumb and Parmesan Reggiano-dusted (Pensacola day-boat) red snapper, caper and herb butter sauce, and roasted Brussel sprouts

Add a lobster tail for an additional $25

Something Sweet – Choice of

Pretzel-crusted fudge brownie with a cream cheese swirl, caramel sauce, vanilla bean ice cream, and fried bacon crumble

Chess Pie with warm custard, sweet butter tartelette, Chantilly cream, macerated berries, chocolate pearls, and mint chiffonade

Additionally, Jackson’s will offer general dinner reservations at 5:00 p.m. in the Governor’s Room featuring the standard dinner menu. At midnight, all are welcome to stop by Jackson’s and enjoy complimentary Hoppin’ John.

Five Sisters Blues Café

We will be offering lunch service 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. serving from our standard menu featuring soups, starters, sandwiches and platters along with favorites including Aunt Sara’s Southern fried chicken, Southern seafood platter, our famous Chicken and Waffles — and much more.

New Year’s Eve dinner service begins at 4:00 p.m. and will be available until 10:00 p.m. We will also have a live jazz band performing 8:00 until midnight. Our full dinner menu will be available. In addition, we will be offering a dinner feature: BBQ braised short ribs served over caramelized leek and Parmesan whipped potatoes, finished with grilled lobster tail and sauteed green beans.

Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano

Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano will be offering two special seatings for the evening in the main dining room for New Year’s Eve. The seatings will be held at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and will feature the culinary creations of Chef James Briscione with a fixed-price, four-course menu and bottomless prosecco. The cost per person is $125 with complementary parking in Southtowne parking garage and party favors. Tax and gratuity are not included. Wine Director Brooke Parkhurst will have an Italian wine pairing available for the meal for an additional $50. The menu is as follows:

Great Southern Offers New Year’s Grab and Go

Five Sisters Blues Café will be offering a New Year’s Grab and Go. The package is based on six people with additional orders available in increments of six.

The New Year’s Meal includes:

Smoked Brisket

Collard Greens

Black Eyed Peas

Cornbread

The six-person package is $45 plus tax. Orders are being taken now and can be placed until noon on Monday, December 28. Pickups will be available Thursday, December 31, 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The meal will be fully cooked and will include reheating directions. Please note: there will be no substitutions. Additional sides can be ordered and are listed on our full Grab and Go menu.
