“Vive la France”

A wine and food event presented by Jackson’s Steakhouse

For the 11th year, Jackson’s Steakhouse is proud to once again present a wine and food tasting, “Vive la France,” on Tuesday, July 14. There will be two seatings for this event: 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Bastille Day is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence.

With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, our own Jean Pierre N’Dione has hand selected four stellar French wines to complement a selection of classic French dishes as

prepared by Chef Irv Miller. The featured presentation for the evening is as follows:

Premier:

Pissaladière (caramelized onion tart), Nicoise olives, arugula, apple and Roquefort salad paired with La Vielle Ferme Brut Rosé, France, N.V.

Deuxième:

Maine lobster bisque, dry sherry, tarragon pesto, and toasted pine nut crème paired with Vincent Girardin Bourgogne Blanc, Burgundy, France, 2017

Troisième:

Seared U-10 sea scallop, mushroom, thick-sliced lardon, and tomato-caper Meuniere sauce paired with Domaine Laroche ‘Mas la Chevaliere’ Pinot Noir, Sud de France, 2018

Quatrième:

Tournedo, black garlic mustard 196 and fresh herb butter, potato, red lentils and scallion galette, and haricots verte paired with Borderan Bordeaux Rouge, Bordeaux, France, 2017

Cinquième:

Crepes Suzette with Grand Marnier and orange butter sauce

The event cost is $75 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and will include four wines and five courses. Seating is limited; reservations required. Be sure to make yours by calling Jackson’s Steakhouse, (850) 469-9898.
